North Augusta Parks, Recreation, and Tourism will host “Down To The River,” a sports and music festival in Riverside Village on June 2 and 3. The event will offer paddle races on the Savannah River, the Hammond’s Ferry Mile and Urban Trail 5K and 10K running races, a “Critical Nice” bike ride, outdoor vendors, food trucks, and a special free concert at Sharon Jones Amphitheater by two-time Dove Award nominee, Jordan Feliz. Launched in 2022 as Rockin’ & Raftin’, this year’s event adds an extra day, running and cycling, as well as entertainment by a nationally recognized musical artist. “It is our desire to create a multi-day summer festival that will become a North Augusta signature event like our Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee,” said North Augusta PRT Director Rick Meyer.
Friday, June 2
The festival will kick-off at 6pm on Friday, June 2 with the Critical Nice Bike Ride on the North Augusta Greeneway. This FREE slow-moving parade will bring bike riders of all ages and abilities together for a fun, festive start to Down To The River.
The Hammond’s Ferry Mile running race will begin at 6:30pm. The one-mile race course will start on Front St. at Boeckh Park, wind its way to Railroad Ave. and finish on Center Street at Sharon Jones Amphitheater. Overall Male and Female runners will each compete for a $500 purse ($250/$150/$100 for the top-3 in each category). There will also be age group awards.
Nationally recognized recording artist, Jordan Feliz, will take the Sharon Jones Amphitheater stage at 7:30pm for a free concert. The Christian pop artist’s music reflects a soulful, folky style. His song, The River, reached #1 on the Billboard magazine charts for Christian Airplay. Mr. Feliz won a Dove Award for Best New Artist in 2016. His song, The River, and also his album of the save name, were also nominated for Dove Awards.
